2014 TBM Council Awards

Congratulations to the 2014 Award Winners!

The Digital Innovator - DIRECTV

Even though the United States pay-TV market is saturated, DIRECTV has realized a significant competitive advantage as a result of its digital innovation strategy, underpinned by TBM
methodologies. A June 2014 Forbes article pointed out that “while cable companies have lost thousands of subscribers over the past few years, DIRECTV has managed to grow its subscriber
base.”

IT Financial Pioneer - CME Group

The CME Group has utilized TBM methodologies and technology to better understand and manage complex and significant aspects of its overall cost structure as a business, especially customer demand at peak times. Internally, there is an expectation that there is more work to be done and that TBM and its corollary projects are a journey and not a destination.

Infrastructure Trailblazer - Mylan

While Mylan has made significant progress with its Cloud First strategy, there is an understanding that its IT transformation, helped by TBM, is a journey. Their next steps: Continue down the path of enabling cloud technologies in a manner that satisfies regulatory scrutiny. And then find a way to utilize the data that’s being gathered in this new approach.

IT Services Transformation - Nationwide Building Society

Using TBM, Nationwide Group Services has made tremendous progress with both its internal services transformation and its organization-wide digital strategy. But the group realizes TBM, and the services transition it enables, is a journey rather than a destination.

TBM Champion - The State of Washington

The State of Washington OCIO website describes the State’s TBM journey, starting in 2012 when TBM was established. The site provides as description of TBM and of the State’s technology partner, Apptio. It also outlines the stages of the journey — technology deployment, operationalizing TBM, and transformation so that IT operates as a line of business. The core values driving the effort like transparency, cost optimization, and communication are also clearly defined.
